From last night.
What I didn’t forget:
- how to dance tango in lovely close embrace (milonga, waltz and tango)
What I didn’t remember (but it all came back in about a minute or so):
- that it’s better to dance with your eyes closed than open
- that it’s okay to play footsie in-between beats
- that you can’t giggle too loud or you’ll deafen your partner
- that your forehead gets pretty sweaty when your forehead is pressed to his
- that you have to breathe
- that you can’t anticipate or be in such a hurry, you have to wait to be led
- that tango music is magical
- that live tango music can be even better
- that dancing is very important to me and I musn’t give it up if I can help it
My beloved Chipmonkey (aka Amber) snuck this photo and this one at Caffe Trieste. I never noticed her do it (although she says since I had my eyes closed how could I tell? Good point).
Not that I mind. Someday when I’m an old lady (if I should live so long and be so lucky), I’ll look at these photos and they’ll make me remember how much I loved to tango.

Wow. Have we finally caught a glimpse of the famous “the boy”?
I’m loving this this morning, you tango-ing, so glad you remembered and relearned its joy. I also love this image of you in the joy of the moment.
xoxo
So beautiful!
Hi all, and thank you. I was so happy to look at this photo again first thing this morning.
And Louis…
This is not The Boy. The Boy was eating pizza and watching the Superbowl. He has many talents, but dancing isn’t one of them. My advice to you as a young, charming man… learn to dance. And I’m not talking about hip-hop or whatever crazy things people dance in clubs. Learn the Latin dances, and if you can handle it, the Tango. The ladies will love you for it.
Fabulous photo, Julie. Looks like a private session with an orchestra
Fabulous shoes!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait until I can start taking lessons now. I need to get some dough together first, but I also got on the mailing list for a Tango bootcamp too
Who says you won’t still be tangoing when you’re an old lady?!
This is a happy happy post for me. I love when the new you finds part of the old you and they get along.
I didn’t think you could be lovelier than yesterday’s photograph, but then, tango brings out the beauty and bliss in us, doesn’t it. You’re gorgeous, and selfishly, I am delighted to see you dancing again. I’ve followed your travels faithfully, but was brought to your blog by tango. So it’s nice to see the ends of the circle entwined again.
Doh! I need to send you a higher res version of this… looks all pixelated

Magical, I can almost hear the music.
This is an absolutely fabulous photo — and yes, I can see how your head would get kind of hot — kind of like being a conjoined twin, what fun… But seriously, Julie, this is SO “San Francisco” that I can hardly stand it. My hat is off to the Chipmonkey for the fine shot — I need to get a wider lens if I’m ever to have a chance at a shot like this…
You look so happy. I’m glad you found your dance again
Donald – The Chipmonkey thanks you
Thank you all for your wonderful and encouraging comments. I’m trying not to be so bad with the replies… bear with me. But thank you all the same! xo
