I’m hard at work editing a new set of photos. This set is of Laura and Shashi, and this image is from their engagement photos. This is one of my favorites (so far, I’m not done going through the whole editing process yet).
I have had this prejudice that I don’t want to do those “San Francisco-y” looking photos, stuff with the Palace of Fine Arts or the Transamerica Pyramid. I’m afraid of the cheesy shots.
And I’m so used to my little nooks and crannies and graffiti and dirt that I can honestly say I have a harder time composing shots when things are a bit too clean. But that’s my problem, not my subject’s, isn’t it? So when this couple wanted to do the bridge and the Palace of Fine Arts, I was afraid that my photos would look like those postcard shots I try so hard to avoid taking.
But then you get something like this, and I realize that saying “no” is never an option. You’ve just got to stay open to all possibilities because you can’t predict when the next wonderful thing is going to happen.
Speaking of wonderful things, today I’m going to Sonia’s bridal shower. You may remember Sonia’s beautiful i live here:SF story (I can honestly say that it is hands-down the most well-read story on my site and the one that people absolutely gushed, cried and cheered over). I feel so grateful that just a random meeting via the internet has led me to be able to participate in her life, and be a part of such a modern day fairy tale. (BTW, Sonia has to be one of the most hilarious women I’ve ever met. She’s currently planning her wedding and you can read her marriage vows to her adorable David here.)

I’m grateful, too! Thank you for the kind words. When I see you today I’m going to give you a big hug.
I am all about the Big Hug. You’re on, lady.
I think with your eye, you’ll be getting some unique, yet SF’ish images with those same landmarks. A bit more work for you, but that much more special! Awesome image!
That photograph is perfect.
Sorry for my lack of comments and interaction lately. I am just now catching up on my blogs. Through a series of fun circumstances, I haven’t read any in weeks.
I have really missed you, your writing, and your photography!
To be true so often appears in your photographs. You have a wonderful talent and I love what you do.
