Julie Michelle is looking for the unexpected and the unseen in her photography walks around San Francisco’s neighborhoods. Fascinated by the kaleidoscope of rich detail that a city environment has to offer, she enjoys creating images that evoke a feeling of solitude, depth and sometimes loneliness in a city that is bustling with inhabitants.
Julie is the creator of the ongoing portrait project i live here:SF, which is an open invitation to San Francisco residents to enjoy and participate in. She is one of the founding members of CALIBER, a popular SF-based photography collective. She is the photographer for Help A Mother Out (HAMO), an advocacy group that aids homeless and low-income mothers and children in the Bay Area. She is also the photographer for the band Magic Christian.
Her website is femmefotographie.com. Her previous written blog was tangobaby.
